Liz Hughes, MA, LMHC

Licensed Therapist/Clinical Supervisor

Liz is an art therapist and mental health counselor with over 19 years experience in the mental health field. She earned her Master of Arts degree in Art Therapy and Mental Health Counseling from Lesley University in 2009. Liz is passionate about creative therapy with children and families. She believes in forming an authentic connection that can be built on to create positive change. 

 

Liz started her career as a counselor at a residential program for teens. Since then, she has worked in mobile crisis services, outpatient therapy, and two locked residential programs. In these positions, she played a leadership role and helped to manage teams. She is passionate about working with children who have experienced trauma and with kids who are struggling with unsafe behavior toward themselves and others. Liz enjoys working with kids with difficulty controlling their emotions and behavior. She especially enjoys family therapy and believes family involvement is pivotal to kids making positive change. Liz takes an eclectic and creative approach, with a sense of humor, to therapy including expressive therapy, play therapy, trauma-informed, person-centered, CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), solution-focused, ARC (Attachment Regulation Competency) and TF-CBT (Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) approaches.
